Holiday Express 2009 was a huge success! Many thanks go out to our volunteers and the passengers who came to ride and support ORHF.

Trains are operated on the Oregon Pacific Railroad and depart from Oaks Park Station adjacent to Oaks Park in southeast Portland. Proceeds benefit the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation's mission to build a new home for Portland's three steam locomotives.

Spokane, Portland & Seattle #700 and Southern Pacific #4449 steam locomotives will be doing the honors of pulling this train for a 40-minute roundtrip thru scenic Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in SE Portland, on the Oregon Pacific Railroad which runs along the Willamette River.

Trains are heated and lit. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing. Restrooms, shelter, parking and refreshments are available onsite. Daytime trains offer a variety of scenery and a chance to see wildlife in the refuge. Early dusk departures offer a great chance to see the train decorated with lights.

The interior of the passenger cars are decorated with garland, ornaments, and lights. Some cars have holiday music playing in the background.

A new addition to the train are the LED lights! For the last five years we've used the older-style incandescent bulbs, and have switched to the brighter and more efficient LED lights!
