Can I see the locomotives? Yes you can, only when they’re chugging down the rails, or attending a special event or excursion such as the Holiday Express. During downtime, the locomotives are inside a locked structure in the middle of an active intermodal facility, which is private Union Pacific Railroad property.
There are no public roads or sidewalks nearby, tours are not held due to liability concerns and workplace conditions. The UP Police regularly patrol the area since their office is a short distance away, and to respect the railroad’s property we ask that you do not trespass. Trespassers can be fined, imprisioned, or both.
This only reinforces our mission to build a permanent and accessible home for the Portland steam locomotives!
How can I support to your cause? ORHF is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, allowing you to deduct your donation from taxes.
