Can I
see the
locomotives? Yes you can, when they're chugging down the
rails,
or attending a special event or excursion such as the Holiday Express.
During downtime, the
locomotives are inside a
locked structure in the middle of an active intermodal facility, which
is private Union Pacific Railroad property.
There are no public roads or sidewalks nearby, tours are not
regularly held
due to liability concerns and workplace conditions. The UP Police
regularly patrol
the area since their office is a short distance away, and we ask that
you do not trespass, and respect the
railroad's property. Trespassers can be fined, imprisioned, or both.
This only reinforces our mission to build a permanent and accessible
home for the Portland steam locomotives!
How can
I support to your cause? ORHF is a registered
501(c)3 non-profit organization, allowing you to deduct your donation
from taxes.
Donations to ORHF, whether it be funds or supplies, are much
appreciated and go toward the efforts
of building a permanent, publicly-accessible facility for the City of
Portland's
locomotives and other historic railroad pieces. Donations may be made
payable to "ORHF" and mailed to the P.O. Box address.
Where
can I get info
on upcoming ORHF events or trips?
This website has the latest info on ORHF activities, as well does the
newsletter published bi-anually. The individual member groups do trips
of
their own, and the best way to get the latest of their info is to visit
the web
links to the right of this paragraph.
